
Witches in Australia have adapted to the absence of Halloween. They're selling their hats, painted orange, to use as barricades. Yes, they've plopped down three "witches hats" at the end of our driveway to discourage driving across wet cement. Likely, there's a curse attached.

When I was growing up a well known radio host started a rumour that traffic cones were bewitched good weather fairies and the only way to rescue them was to kiss a road worker.
I can't say I've ever kissed a road worker but I always give them a cheery smile just in case.
In Ohio I've seen these orange cones listed as the State Bird. Much highway construction/reconstruction every summer!
